Perfect Moment Monday: Here and Now

May 23, 2010

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

Once a week we engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.

Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

====================================

I’m driving to a yoga class after a morning of lounging in bed and drinking a cup of french-pressed coffee. The “lounging” part is important because lately, the kids have let us sleep in while they watch cartoons. We are now parenting two increasingly independent beings.

After yoga,  the rest of the day is unstructured. The weather is stunningly beautiful — a perfect 74 degrees with little wind (a big change from yesterday’s gusts). We plan to visit my Mom and Dad in the afternoon. My husband, my children and my parents, all healthy and all together.

I am happy.

This time of day, this time of week, this time of year. Here, in the place where I am fortunate to live. The new-green landscape holds so much promise.

These are not my beautiful horses. But this is my beautiful scenery on the way to yoga class.

Later I tread our lawn in my bare feet, my toes seeing the sunlight for the first time in a long winter, my soles absorbing all that lushness, that promise.

Very beautiful and lush!

I am glad that you live in a place that affords you such scenery!

Suze says she can feel the lush green on her toes from Ptown. … your words have made it come alive.
I also just read last week’s PMM.  Purple chocolate.  How wonderful.   Hope Tessa had a better week.

that DOES sound AMAZING, like waking up from a long nap and seeing the sunshine, feeling it warm on your face. Knowing that Spring and Summer is coming. I loved the “feeling” that from your words.

Yes – having your family all together and all happy makes everything else seem like background noise.

What a beautiful and serene ride to  yoga!

ahhh – I don’t have such beautiful scenery driving to yoga but I can relate to your description in my “city girl” way ;)

Beautiful! I try not to fantasize too much about having independent children in the house (as I try to type this while Oscar pulls on my arm), because I know that this time will go by fast and I will regret wishing it away.

But I’m jealous! :)

Mmmmmmmm… thank you for sharing this moment, I am living vicariously through you right now.  Although my life is beautiful in it’s own way right now, it’s been a while since I enjoyed such a relaxing day!
