Perfect Moment Monday: Happy Dance

August 24, 2009

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than about creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

We gather here once a week to engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.

Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

====================================
Tessa and Reed started school this past week. Both kids, full-day, for the first time.

But their first day of school did not offer the liberation I craved. Instead, I was scheduled to chauffeur my husband to 3 doctors’ appointments — the Percocet prohibits him driving.

Come Friday morning, though, Roger had gotten a ride to work, and I’d gotten breakfast in the kids and supervised their lunch-packing. Before long, the carpool arrived and Tessa and Reed headed for their destination.

Here’s what I immediately did after I closed the front door behind me (I had to stifle the urge while walking back into the house, in case Tessa or Reed looked back):

This perfect moment is sponsored by calling my own agenda for SIX. Whole. Hours.

Aaaaahhhhsoooooooome.

I did the happy dance on the first day of school too…and I’ve done it every day since. It’s my new form of exercise. :)

Ah – I am so very happy for you! And your happy dance!

I did that last year – four hours of writing…EVERY DAY!

This year I will be headed to school too, a different one than them…but a school none-the-less.

My dance is slightly less joyous.

Awesome perfect moment!!!

Reminds me of my own mother. My first day of kindergarden, my mum cried as I got on the bus (I’m the oldest out of our bunch.) Every year after that she’d smile a a huuuege ear to ear grin and wave as the bus hauled us away… I wonder why? ;)

Wait, you mean that grown-ups actually get to choose how they spend their days sometimes?

Seeing as how Back to School for the kids also means Back to Work for me, too, I rarely get to have those heel-clicking jumps. But when I DO get the chance, you better believe that I Happy Dance my butt from one end of the house to the other!

Ha ha ha! I wonder how I’ll feel when Bean is gone all day. Happy for the freedom, or maybe almost oppressed by it?? Or maybe I’ll be back to work, as DH seems to think I will be. A man’s gotta have his optimism. :)

Bwwaaaaaaah! I hope you threw open the door to the freezer and ate ice cream straight from the container and then danced around the hallway.

And me, when the twins go back to school, I’ll be crouching in their school library all over again :-) Pathetic.
